Adult Day Program

CCC’s Adult Day Program (ADP) provides different activities five days a week for adults 60 years old and above. These activities allow individuals to stay active and socialize with their peers. With an average of 50 participants a week, ADP members can enjoy yoga, dance, tai-chi, singing, and much more with peer volunteer instructors. More details about individual classes are below.

中華文化中心養生班項目一周五天(週一至週五)為60歲及以上的年長者提供不同的豐富活動。這些活動幫助年長者們保持活躍并和同齡人進行社交。中華文化中心養生班每週平均有50名學員參與,其學員可參與由同年齡的志願者老師教授的瑜伽、舞蹈、太極、歌唱以及更多不同課程。

ADP Classes

Ballroom Dance

Ballroom dance is taught by the volunteer instructor for retired seniors. It is good for balance and coordination of your body. The instructor usually teaches waltz, tango, samba, lumba and cha-cha with light and elegant dance steps to help seniors to build a better shape.

Ru-Yi Dance

Ru-Yi Dance, is a relatively new form of Chinese dance developed jointly in 2000 by two dance instructors from Beijing and Taipei, respectively. It combines the classic Chinese choreography with traditional Tai-Chi martial art forms. It emphasizes the tranquility and harmony of human beings and nature.

 

Hsiang Hsiang Dance

Hsiang Hsiang dance is an individual aerobic dance that allows you to dance freely at your own pace without a partner. Aerobic exercise single dance can improve heart and lung function, lower blood pressure, strengthen the muscles, digest the calories, correct the body shape and offer many other health benefits.


Karaoke Class

Karaoke class is led by the volunteer instructor who played the list of members’ favorite songs so that members can sing and enjoy.  Singing makes us relax, promotes our heart and lung functions makes our life better. This class special invited the famous Houston vocalist YanWen Zhan to teach seniors the right way to sing.

Tai-Chi

Tai-Chi Quan is a combination of the Ying-Yang philosophy and health preservation for longevity. The graceful movement, together with deep breathing and mental focus, creates balance, flexibility, and calmness, which relieves stress and allows for the integration of your mind and body. Tai-Chi Quan believes that we are an integral part of the nature. CCC’s Tai-Chi class is for seniors who are 60+. It helps seniors feel more relaxed, be more active and socialize with peers.

 

Yoga Class

Monday yoga class is designed for mostly beginner and intermediate participants, concentrating on muscle stretching, strengthening to improve the overall body flexibility.  We start the class with 10 minutes of Chinese Qigong (Breathing Exercise) and end the class with few minutes of relaxation.  All participants are encouraged to do only what they can do and no competition among them at all.  Yoga mats are required for the class.

Crafting Class

In CCC’s ADP crafting class, you will learn how to make traditional Chinese paper cutting, origami, and jewelry. This class helps seniors to improve crafting skills and abilities, also to socialize with fellow peers.

養生班課程

國標舞班

由志工老師帶領已退休同學們開辦了國標舞班。跳舞對身體健康益處非常多,最重要對身體的平衡與協調非常有幫助。老師平常上課 教授華爾茲、探戈、桑巴、倫巴、恰恰有優美的音樂帶的輕快優美的舞步,有利於刑成正確的體態和健美的形體。

如意舞

如意舞是一種新型的中國舞蹈在2000年的時候由北京和台北的兩位舞蹈教師開創。這個舞蹈結合了中華名族人生精神的哲學理論。它結合了古典中華舞蹈文化以及傳統太極武術形式。這個舞蹈使用古典詩歌形式并結合中國古典音樂。它強調人與自然的寧靜與和諧。

 

香香舞

香香舞特邀目前台灣最流行的社區健身舞老師王清香前來指導。香香舞是一种有氧单人舞,讓您舞得輕鬆自在,不須攜帶舞伴,不必擔心跟不上進度或是太過激烈,適合有興趣嘗試舞蹈及想健身的學員參加。有氧運動單人舞能促進心肺功能,降低血壓,強化肌肉,消化卡路里,矯正體態等多項功能。


卡拉OK

中華文化服務中心「養生班」的卡拉OK班由義工老師帶領播放會員挑選的歌曲,會員可以演唱自己喜歡的歌曲盡情享受。歌唱讓大家輕鬆自在,促進心肺功能,增進身體健康,美化人生等等多項功能。此課程特別邀請休士頓聲樂家「詹硯文」于養生班一月一次示範教學唱歌的正確方法。

太極

太極拳吸收中華陰陽哲學以及長壽養生文化的影響而發展。太極拳積累能量讓您感覺身體更清醒以及放鬆。其優美的動作結合深呼吸和神態的專注,同時提升人的平衡、靈活性以及平和從而減輕生活壓力並讓心志合一。太極拳的理論认为人們是自然的組成部分。文化中心養生班的太極拳專門針對60歲以上年長者,讓年長者能夠有更加平和的內心同時起到健身和社交的目的。

 

瑜伽課

每週一的瑜伽課是專門設計給初級以及中級程度的參加者,主要專攻于肌肉的伸展,力度的加強以及全身身體的靈活性。我們的課程以10分鐘的八段錦氣功開始,以幾分鐘的身體放鬆收尾。所有的參加者都鼓勵做他們身體能力範圍內可做的動作而不是做任何競爭。**(此課程需自備瑜伽墊)

手工藝

做不同手工藝品。如折紙,中華傳統剪紙工藝以及一些珠寶首飾的製作。此課程幫助年長者提高動手能力。
