Activity Assistant | Senior Services
Part-time (25 hours/week)
This position reports to Senior Services Director.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Activity Assistant in the Senior Services Department plays an important role in leading group of seniors in several health activities. The Activity Assistant will also provide health educational classes that pertain to senior individuals and their health needs. This position requires Activity Assistant to work closely with Seniors in day-to-day activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate

- CPR/First Aid certified

Culture & Community Manager

The primary function of the Culture & Community Manager is to oversee all aspects of the key cultural and community programs at the Chinese Community Center: Language and Heritage School, Asian Heritage Tour, the Lunar New Year Festival and other community events. - Develop and manage annual cultural activities calendar by integrating community interests, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and funding opportunities.

Volunteer Program Management

- Develop volunteer leadership pathways, including youth volunteers, senior volunteers, program aides, and community ambassadors.

- Bachelor Degree in education or related field.
- Chinese/ English bilingual required.
- 1-2 year working experience with the target population.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in Foreign Language Teaching
Preferred
- Certified teacher from an accredited institution
- Knowledge of up-to-date pedagogical practices in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
- Knowledge of both traditional and simplified characters as well as Pinyin system
- 6 months experience in the use of technology for foreign language teaching and learning
- Knowledge of Chinese History and Culture
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach all assigned classes in accordance with grade appropriate best practices.
- Create course syllabi, supplementary materials and examination papers for the courses accordingly.
- Responsible for classroom instruction, with an emphasis on building oral proficiency, promoting students’ ability to read and write, and exploring the culture of China.
- Maintain accurate and complete academic reports that provide a cumulative record of student performance.
- Communicate with parents: return phone calls, emails and notes in a timely manner.
- Participate in developing the Language Program curriculum and pedagogy.
PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with placement and exemption exams
- Attend and participate in school meetings, professional development activities, conferences/workshops
- Perform other related duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires the incumbent to work on Saturdays.
