Asian Heritage Tours by Chinese Community Center is a unique initiative that immerses local Houstonians, regional tourists, and interest groups to the rich layers of Asiatown Bellaire and Mahatma Gandhi District. We aim to support cultural activity in all its forms (food, ritual, display and more) believing there is much to gain. Class Description
🀄 Monthly Mahjong Workshop & Open Play 🀄
Join us for CCC’s monthly Mahjong gathering! This program introduces participants to Taiwanese Mahjong while also offering open play for returning and experienced players.
This event combines a beginner-friendly Mahjong workshop with open play. Whether you are brand new to Mahjong or already know how to play, you are welcome to join us for an afternoon of learning, playing, and connecting with the community.
Workshop participants will learn the basics of Taiwanese Mahjong, including rules, gameplay, tile recognition, and simple strategies. Each workshop table will have at least one instructor available to guide participants, answer questions, and support gameplay throughout the session.
Returning and experienced players are welcome to join the open play tables. This is a great opportunity to practice, meet other Mahjong players, and enjoy a relaxed community setting. Please note that this program mainly follows Taiwanese Mahjong rules.
Chinese tea and snacks will be offered during play.
All backgrounds are welcome. No prior Taiwanese Mahjong experience is required.

*Note:* Registered youth participants are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. CCC requires a minimum of 8 participants. All sales are final. If you are unable to attend after registering, or if the event is canceled due to low enrollment, your ticket amount may be applied as credit toward a future CCC Culture & Community event.

Curious about Go (Weiqi)? Come give it a try!
Join the Chinese Community Center and Houston Go Club for a fun and interactive Youth Go Open House designed for children ages 6–12. Kids will get a hands-on introduction to the game, meet the instructors, learn some basic Go concepts, and experience what our upcoming 8-week Youth Go Class will be like.

Discover Go! Youth Program – 8-Week Beginner Course
Saturdays, October 3 – November 21, 2026
Class Description
Discover the world of Go (Weiqi) through a fun and interactive 8-week program presented by the Chinese Community Center and Houston Go Club!
Designed for children ages 6–12, this beginner-friendly course introduces students to the fundamentals of Go through hands-on activities, puzzles, games, and guided play. Students will gradually build their skills while developing strategic thinking, problem-solving, patience, and good sportsmanship.
Throughout the 8 weeks, students will learn:
• Basic Go rules, liberties, Atari, and capturing
• Ko and Life & Death concepts
• Connecting and cutting stones
• Territory and area scoring
• Strategic efficiency and ladders
• Guided practice games and real-game experience
• And more!
The program concludes with a Youth Go Tournament during the final class, giving students an opportunity to put their new skills into practice and celebrate their progress.
