The Chinese American Citizens Alliance Houston Lodge and the Chinese Community Center are hosting a FREE Spring Plant and Seed Swap event for all ages. This popular gathering brings the community together to exchange plants, cuttings, and seeds—including unique cultural Asian plant seeds—while sharing gardening knowledge and experiences.

1. Check In
When you arrive, please sign in at the check in table and pick up a name tag.

2. Set Up Your Swap Space
Participants can open their car trunks to display plants and seeds for trading. Folding tables are also welcome if you prefer to set up a small display.

3. Trade Fairly
Please be courteous and respectful of others’ items. A good rule of thumb is to trade like for like — plants for plants, seeds for seeds, and cuttings for cuttings. Labeling your plants is highly encouraged.

4. Make a Friendly Swap
As long as both participants agree to the trade, it’s a successful swap! The goal is for everyone to leave happy.

5. Keep Your New Plants Safe
After making a swap, place your new plants under your table or in a safe place so they are not accidentally taken by others.

6. Support Beginners and Kids
If possible, bring a few extra seeds, seedlings, or cuttings to share with newcomers or children who are just starting their plant journey.

7. Everyone Is Welcome
Even if you don’t have plants to trade, you’re still welcome to join. This is a great opportunity to learn about gardening, meet fellow plant lovers, and start building your own plant and seed collection.

The Houston Lodge, established in 1954, is a chapter of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.), a national Chinese American benevolent, non-profit, and non-partisan organization founded in 1895.
